The Designer
Cape Cod native Sarah Waldo moved to New York City in 2001 to study at Parsons School of Design in hopes of turning her two passions, fashion and children, into a career. Through working as a nanny for over 10 years, Sarah found her fundamental love of children steering her towards designing clothing that would reflect their innocence and joy.
While obtaining her degree in Fashion Design, Sarah worked as a designer in the children's wear design department at Polo Ralph Lauren, and other freelance design competitions for companies including Vespa and Baby Gap were put into production throughout her stay at Parsons. She also worked as an intern at the upscale children's clothing company, Kule.
In 2005, Sarah became the first children's wear designer nominated for Parsons Designer of the Year, and her line was consequently featured in the window of Saks Fifth Avenue during the spring. Sarah's highly acclaimed Senior Thesis for Parsons reflected her dedication to holding children's clothing to the highest design and fabrication standards found in the finest woman's wear. High standards for meticulous construction and the finest fabrication serve to highlight the subtle details which make Sarah's collection stand out.
Upon graduating from Parsons, Sarah continued to pursue her goals of creating a line of clothing for children which would set new standards in the children's wear industry for using organic fabrications while not compromising design details. The small-scale production for her label, Sarah Waldo, is and will always remain in the United States. Sarah Waldo is dedicated to the use of organic fabrication and low-impact and plant-based dyeing methods.
